Project #1
The project objective was to create a 2-page spread for the new Summer Line for women. The magazine spread required floral elements for background/foreground and a model in the center showcasing the new textile design. The second page was to complement the first with a similar theme, displaying the new spring line using the provided color palette and textiles.
The image on the right is an example they provided to reference what they were looking for.
Project Elements
Sketchers provided a few project elements to help with the build of the 2-page spread
Look #1
The concept for this visual layout aimed for a minimalist approach, incorporating floral components as requested along with the consistent presence of models throughout the spread. The design strategically directs the viewer's gaze in a fluid manner across the second page, guiding from the top left, across to the right, then back to the bottom left, and eventually concluding at the bottom right corner. Still conveying with what the client requested.
Look #2
The approach for the new summer line spread is different, focusing on simplicity while adding a personal touch. The first page is designed to convey "Summer's In Full Bloom" with a more intimate feel. The intention is for the reader to think of the content as written by a young girl in her notebook, showcasing various looks and favorite models sporting the new "it" style.
Project #2
This project required some photo retouching. One project calls for the removal of the background, recoloring of the apparel, and touching up the skin and hair if needed. The second project calls for the removal of the background, recoloring of the jacket, whether that’s changing the color to a solid or adding color block sleeves, and with the addition of branding.
