Mariachi Women’s Foundation brought a vibrant community dialog and performance demonstration celebrating Women’s History Month with "Mariachi Women Warriors: Tradition and Innovation." The foundation had an unforgettable bilingual event that includes a special performance by the renowned Mariachi Divas. Engage with our distinguished panel of mariachi women, including Monica Fogelquist, Assistant Professor of Practice in Ethnomusicology at the University of Texas, Austin, Cristal Márquez, Mariachi Voces de Mexico, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Cindy Shea, Mariachi Divas, Los Angeles, Leonor Xóchitl Pérez, PhD, Executive Director of Mariachi Women’s Foundation, and Cynthia Prida Bravo from the Council of Cultural Affairs for the Los Angeles Mexican Consulate.

Through this event, the foundation hopes to foster a greater understanding of women’s experiences in performing mariachi, a popular music tradition rooted in Mexican masculine culture.
